Facelift dentist Dr. Ronald Receveur is pleased to have added Strickland Facelift Dentures™ earlier this year as an option for patients’ dental restorations.
However, some patients are confused about how to care for their new dentures, and whether that treatment differs from caring for traditional dentures.
Strickland Facelift Dentures, while more expensive than traditional dentures, maintain and support a wearer’s face and allow wearers to eat whatever they want.
“Facelift dentures fit closer to a patient’s gums, which improves the fit and function of their new smile,” Dr. Receveur said. “Facelift dentures also preserve the shape of the wearer’s face better than traditional dentures because they stimulate the jawbone to prevent bone loss.”
To help his and other patients better care for their dentures of all kinds, Dr. Receveur offers these four tips:
1. Be careful when handling your dentures. They are strong but not indestructible.
2. Brush and rinse your dentures every day. Use a soft-bristled brush designed for dentures with a mild soap. Brush all of the denture, being careful not to damage the plastic or bend any attachments.
3. Keep your dentures moist when not in your mouth. Denture cleanser is usually a safe option, but check with your dentist to be sure. Never use hot water, as it can warp your dentures.
4. Schedule a dental checkup every six months to a year.
Dr. Receveur, who practices in New Albany, Ind., across the Ohio River from Louisville, Ky., offers Louisville cosmetic dentistry services and general dentistry such as teeth cleanings, X-rays, fillings, extractions, root canals, crowns, teeth whitening and veneers.
